Hello and welcome to Willow Acres Dog Training!
I am Terri Wilson, owner and trainer and I LOVE working with dogs and their owners.
I started teaching obedience and tracking in 1978 and in 1985 I bought a farm in North Carolina and started my own business, Willow Acres Dog Training, LLC. I have taught obedience, rally, tracking, agility, sheep herding, canine good citizen, puppy classes, tricks, K9 freestyle, conformation and most recently K9 nosework.
I would LOVE to have you and your dog come play with me!
(no, I no longer have a farm so no herding lessons.)
Feel free to contact me with any questions or just to talk dogs!

With over 35 years of experience in both equestrian sports and dog training, I am
dedicated to helping animals and their people build trust, confidence, and lasting bonds. My training philosophy is rooted in positivity and backed by science, ensuring that every dog, from energetic puppies to seasoned companions, learns in a supportive and rewarding environment. I have worked with dogs across the U.S., including California, Illinois, Georgia, and Colorado. I have also worked with Border Collies in Ireland. My experience spans a wide range of breeds, from high-drive working dogs and task-trained service dogs to purebred show dogs. My background also includes collaborations with organizations such as Humane Colorado, the National Horse Abuse Investigation team, and various dog rescues in Chicago. As an evaluator for the AKC Canine Good Citizen program, I help dogs and their owners achieve meaningful training goals. In addition to my work with dogs, I have a strong equestrian background and placed 5th in the National Field Hunter Trials for the Western States Region.
Animals have been my passion for as long as I can remember, and my goal is to create training experiences that support both dogs and their people in living their best lives together.

Karen Hiteshew
Rally Instructor, Competitive Obedience Coach
I’ve been doing obedience since 1977.
Started with Irish Setters, German Shepard, Bassett Hound, Cocker/Poodle mix, Shetland Sheepdog, Flat Coated Retrievers, and now Border Collies.
I have done obedience, rally, agility, tracking, hunting, conformation, dancing, and tricks.
I love teaching dogs and people.
I worked in Jeff co. schools, special education, for 12 years.
I also love art work, all animal portraits, and interior painting my house. I also have recently cut down over 25 trees on my property, I just have a very hard time sitting around.

Brittainy is a certified dog trainer through the Animal Behavior College. She has many years experience working with shelter dogs and in the shelter environment. She teaches classes at Willow Acres and also provides limited pet sitting and individual boarding.

Terri Wilson
Dog Training and Teaching Experience -
When I graduated from high school in 1972 I joined the Army, starting my Grand Adventure that has taken me from Texas to Indiana to North Carolina to Oklahoma, back to Texas and finally to Colorado where I hope to stay until the end of my days.
Even though I worked in the computer field since I got out of the Army until my retirement, my heart has always been in loving and interacting with dogs. I have spent all my spare time training my own dogs and teaching others how to train and spreading information on how to treat our dogs with respect and love.
I firmly believe in positive, science-based dog training and I know a secret - not only is this best for our dogs but it is also the quickest and easiest training I have ever done! (and I have used every method out there).
I put my first title (AKC CD) on a German Shepherd in 1974 and have trained my own dogs and a vast number of other dogs and their owners, all shapes and sizes, in class settings and private settings continuously since 1978.
I have successfully competed in AKC/ASCA/UKC/APDT obedience and rally, AKC/AHBA/ASCA herding and Border Collie trials, AKC/ASCA/NADAC/USDAA agility, AKC tricks, WCFO K9 freestyle, AKC tracking, Barnhunt and, most recently, NACSW/AKC nosework.
I have earned many CGC certificates and ATTS TempermentTest certificates.
I put multiple Championship and Grand Championships on my dogs.
I started with German Shepherds, have had 7 Border Collies, a Sheltie, several mixed breeds, a B&T Coonhound, 3 Great Pyrennes, 14 Tervs and have specialized in and bred Belgian Tervuren since 1985.
I work with breed rescues and have rescued and fostered many breeds, including Belgian Malinois, Tervuren and Sheepdog, Australian Shepherds, Samoyed and Border Collies.
I am currently a NACSW certified nosework instructor, an AKC/AHBA herding judge and an AKC approved CGC/Tricks/FarmDog evaluator.
